About Us....
The Dog Obedience Group is owned and operated by Al & Jane Boeck.  Al and Jane began their obedience training experience in 1984 with a stray cocker spaniel they named Aussie (Red Ayers of Australia, C.D.).  Aussie was enrolled in an obedience class and was the class clown, but loved every minute of training. They went on to show Aussie in AKC obedience trials and began training Aussie in tracking work.  She loved to work in the coldest, wettest weather (which is great for tracking, but not so good for handlers).  Unfortunately, Aussie developed a little known blood disorder called Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia and died before competing in any AKC tracking trials.  By this time Jane and Al were hooked on obedience and began teaching for a local obedience club and a local breed club.

In May of 1992 they founded the Dog Obedience Group. Its primary goal is to help keep dogs with behavior problems out of the local shelters by showing owners how to fix and prevent problems and keep their dogs in the family.  Jane and Al are members of NADOI (National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors) and APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers).  They regularly attend seminars to keep up with training methods and behavior issues.  Jane and Al are both AKC Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluators as are most of the D.O.G. staff.

Jane and Al currently live with three cocker spaniels:  10 year old Gizmo, Gazon Who-da-Knew, C.G.C. , 9 year old Nawti Who-Da-Knews Toil and Trouble and the new puppy; 4 month old NicoIn the last year they have lost two "kids"; 13 year old Roxie, CH Northyork Devil in Disguise, C.D., T.D.I., C.G.C. (Roxie was a 5 year survivor of Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia); and 10 year old Taz, Northyork Witch's Brew, C.D., C.G.C.;

Al and Jane hope you can join them in their classes and have a good time with your dog.  Training your dog helps build a bond between the two of you and allows both of you to live together as a happy "family".  The classes are taught using motivational methods that have been proven to be very successful by hundreds of past students.
